Baldknobbers hit the Big
Five-Oh! (50) in
2009! Branson's First show is turning 50! "We are really looking
forward to this year-long celebration of our show's 50th year", said Holly
Gurley, the show's general manager. "We plan on hosting at least one event
each month!" The birthday bash will last throughout 2009 with a series of
activities and special events. Calling themselves the Baldknobbers, brothers
Jim, Bill, Lyle and Bob Mabe decided the fishermen needed something to do in the
evenings, so in 1959 they donned hillybilly costumes and used homemade
instruments to play country and hillbilly music for Branson audiences.
Today's Baldknobbers feature the children and grandchildren of the original
brothers, plus a cast of singers, musicians and comedians who continue to
showcase a variety of country music. The 2009 show will highlight the history of
the show and will include a host of guest stars. Stay tuned to this
website as events are announced.

NASCAR star visits Dixie Stampede
#5 Sprint cup NASCAR racing star Clint Bowyer signed autographs
and met the folks over at Dixie Stampede recently.
Dixie Stampede is one of Clint's associate sponsors, a factoid which is
proudly displayed on Clint's car in the form of The Dixie Stampede
logo. That connection also makes a Dixie Stampede appearance
more like a visit with the home folks. And the home folks
definitely turned out, lining up in front of the Branson attraction to snap
digital pics of themselves with Clint, or to have him autograph photos, ball
caps, model cars, T-shirts, and heck, just about anything else they could get
their hands on! Note:
